Our history includes a legacy of progress

Founded in 1839 as the Farmville Female Seminary Association, Longwood University’s history has been one of constant growth and evolution. The institution held a series of names during its early history, becoming Longwood College in 1949, turning fully coed in 1976, and finally becoming Longwood University in 2002.

Today, Longwood University extends its reach beyond its storied campus by offering a fully online MBA degree for working professionals. Longwood’s graduate programs are built around innovation, diversity, and leadership. We are committed to taking this journey with you.
