  • What do you want students in your courses to learn? What is the learning outcome or objective?

I want students to learn how information systems and technology drive the modern enterprise. I want them to learn about major shifts in the information systems landscape that have occurred recently or are occurring now and how they will change business in the next decade. The learning objectives include understanding the role of IT in the modern enterprise, knowing key terminology, and understanding how IT can be leveraged to attain a competitive advantage in the modern enterprise.

  • What advice would you give to those considering this online MBA program?

You've made the decision to invest in yourself, now ensure you maximize that investment. Immerse yourself in the MBA experience and treat each course, each assignment, each interaction as a valuable learning opportunity. The more you entertain & evaluate new ideas and share your own ideas, the greater your return-on-investment will be.

  • What is the value of an MBA?

The MBA is the single most recognized master's degree in the world. Virtually every company knows what it means to have attained an MBA. They know that you will bring value to the organization and impart your accrued knowledge to enhance organizational success. On a more personal level, earning an MBA is a noteworthy achievement testifying to your tenacity, desire for personal growth, and development of advanced business acumen.

  • Why did you start teaching?

I started teaching very technical subjects during my military career. I found that I enjoyed interfacing with people from all walks of life in an environment where I learned from them as they learned from me. For me, the educational environment is more conducive to the sharing of knowledge than the typical operational environment and that sharing of new ideas provides great opportunity for personal growth.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

"The Cuckoo's Egg" by Clifford Stoll (yeah, it's a geek book, but a true story that has business, crime, and technology all rolled into one)

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know.

I'm a motorcycle rider and a woodworker when I have spare time. I have my own sawmill and cut my own wood pieces for projects.
